The Telegraph reported last weekend that Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor, is considering a six week extension of the Stamp Duty Land Tax holiday.
This means that the stamp duty holiday would not end until the middle of May giving hope to those buyers who are still trying to beat the current deadline of 31 March to complete their purchase.
The fact that the SDLT holiday has led to so many transactions has resulted in long delays in the conveyancing process. Any extension, however short, would help out many people whose transactions are currently ongoing.
We are keeping an eye on the situation and will put out an update as and when there is more concrete news.
